Since we couldn’t get to Coachella ourselves (again!) this year, we issued a dare to some of our favorite bands to go forth, meet as many other bands & celebs as they could find and send us photo proof. Only one band (so far) were up to the challenge: the mighty Fields!

The most Brit/partly Icelandic group were kind enough to take a digital camera around with them on Saturday and play a game of spot the celebrity (er, indie rock style) and give us a bands-eye view of what goes on in the V.I.P. areas. And most importantly what the view from the stage looks like!

Fields & Colin

“Colin from The Decemberists made out day on two counts. first off he lent us some equipment that we had left in the UK by accident and secondly he told us that that we were ‘an awesome band’. He is a top man and fits right in to Team Fields.”

More photos of encounters with Klaxons, PB&J, Kelly Osbourne, an Arctic Monkey and cute moments of their first time in the V.I.P. all after the jump.Fields & Alexis

“Alexis from Hot Chip had some delicious looking lunch which he was happy to show off to Nick. However when we asked him to share it he ran off into the distance.” PBJ_Fields

Peter Bjorn & John were so excited at meeting the mighty Fields that they starting having a huge freak-out. A few seconds later they began screaming, crying and begging for autographs.”

Thoronstage
“We had to arrive at 9AM in order to get a soundcheck. Fields it must be noted are NOT morning people. Thorunn started to get a bit worried that no one would turn up and that we’d be playing to an empty field…”

Coachella Crowd

“She needn’t have worried, the kids of Coachella are obviously blessed with great taste and decided the best way to shake off last night’s hangover was with a big dose of Fields.”

Fields Mojave

“Repslendent in our finest threads we took to the stage of the mojave tent ready to show the fine people of California how to (folk) rock.”

Matty

“Matty started to get the crowd really excited in his signature salmon pink ‘jack-ups’. Jack-ups refers to the practice of turning up your pants on the inside to make them shorter. The ones he’s wearing are girls pants that we got free at one of the many ‘gifting’ suites we visited over the weekend. Gifting is now our new favourite hobby. At first we felt a bit strange about it but then we saw Sonic Youth gifting their hearts out at the Motorola Suite so we thought it must be ok.”

RockOut

“Inspired by the power of the pink jack-ups we whipped ourselves into a frenzy as we channeled the desert spirits.”

KlaxonsSideStage

“We spotted the Klaxons on the side of the stage doing some freaky dancing and some early morning drinking. We gave them the advice to slow down and take it easy otherwise they would have no energy for gifting later in the day.”

Pharoah

Pharoah Monch and his crew were some of the nicest, friendliest people we met this weekend. They were totally overcome by the power of Matty’s jack ups and Superman chain. He is pretty big in the game after all.”

Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne was a real sweetheart and only to happy to pose for picture with Thorunn. We only got refused a picture by one group of people who shall remain namesless…Kings of Leon - whoops!!!”

Ed. note: We’ll remember that when programming their video in the show.

Alex from AM

“Famous people were pretty thin on the ground during our time at coachella but we did run into Alex from the Arctic Monkeys - a lovely boy with a matchwinning grin. By the end of the weekend he too was sporting jack ups in tribute to our Matty.”

Klaxons2

“We ran into Klaxons again who had taken our advice and were sipping on fruity beverages and carrying a delightful parasol to keep them cool. These boys are obviously in it for the long haul and should go far.”

Emily BSS

“The lovely Emily Haines from Metric/Broken Social Scene is one of our best mates and it was a delight to run into her backstage. She has been a big supporter of the band from day one . We had run off straight after the picture was taken to drive to our next show in SF. Goodbye Coachella…we’ll miss you. Love, Fields”
