High off our victory of arm wrestling Ben Gibbard last week, we went right out and challenged Kevin from Viva Voce to a karaoke-off. He did a commendable job, but we pulled off a last minute victory with our rousing rendition of “Total Eclipse of the Heart”.
The outcome? Now Kevin has to write a tour blog for us of the Viva Voce road trip across the world with the Shins.

Hey there SubterrrBlog reader.
Viva Voce & The Shins for two months. Rock tour. No 3rd band. Just us and The Shins for over 6 weeks. US / Europe - you name it. This is to give you a backstage pass into what it’s like to tour with the bros - the good the bad and the queens. We’ve just finished the first “leg” (biz talk for a short run of dates) and are about to start up the next.
The 1st leg stretched from Minneapolis to Portland - put us through minus 18 degrees, killing our van, touring in a PT Cruiser, crossing the Rockies in a blizzard and playing to a sold out crowd every night! Doesn’t get better than that. A Homerian Odyssey indeed. I’ve got a shitty digital camera and took some shots of the last leg (click here to see them).
…hit “detail view” on the images for a brief wrap up. Short but sweet - bruised fingers are hard to make type at the end of the night.
Regardless….here we go. I’ve driven for over 16 hours today and yesterday - Portland to Dallas. UHF is on HBO. Pick Anita up at the airport tomorrow morning and get this party started.
